From director Joon-ho Bong and producer/director and highly regarded Chan-Wook Park, is Snowpiercer.. a brilliant sleeper that only a few of you may have heard of. Starring Chris Evans ( The human torch and Captain America if you didn't know...) and Tilda Swinton.. This post apocalyptic thriller takes place on a train, housing and hauling the last of humanity through the barren ice land that earth has become.
This takes place 17 years after the planet succumbed to a global cooling event caused by a climate change experiment gone wrong.
This film has heart, humor and a prophetic and horrifying look into the dystopian conditions humans may inevitably face someday. Most things we take for granted are "extinct" on this train aptly named "Snowpiercer" which is a speeding social habitat on rails.
This small ensemble cast delivers in ways I was not prepared for.. And they do a great job at portraying an uprising amongst the less fortunate souls stuck at the back of the train. As they inch further toward the front of the train they discover the spoils of the upper class as intense violence and casualty amongst both classes ensue.
In the end what I got was an incredibly entertaining film amongst this sometimes overburdened genre. It's a great watch and I suggest you get your hands on a copy of this film as soon as possible!
4/5
