Isn't it crazy - Die Hard (1988)

Isn't it crazy how much of a gem 'Die Hard' still is after all of these years. The aesthetic and action still make it seem, for the complete and utter lack of a better description: TIMELESS.. It also includes ONE.OF.THE.BEST villains in action film history in Alan Rickman playing the timeless and almost Bond villain 'esque character, Hans Grueber.

It is rumored that in the script for the next sequel will take place in Japan as he is invited overseas to receive an award from the Nakatomi corporation for saving so many hostages at the plaza 30 years ago. Possible return of Samuel Jackson as well. I wonder how they could possibly write him into the script since he would read have no reason to be there? I've seen writers pull these types of scenarios out of their butts so I'm sure that shouldn't be too hard to do.

Since this franchise recently has relied heavily on legacy and including McClain's children, and respectively not his wife (thank god) it would be a breath of fresh air to return back to the buddy cop feeling that 'With a Vengeance' had done oh so well. That is easily one of my favorite action films in the 90's up there with 'True Lies' and 'Speed'.

SEGWAY

Speaking of Speed (1994) A new action film that has recently come out called 'John Wick' starring Keanu Reeves that is a love letter to he classic over the top action films of days old. As they say these days, "just google it"...

Can this anemic franchise be saved? Can the tried and true action genre as a whole be saved?

In the end all I DO know is this.. I just hope IF the new 'Die Hard' ..( add whatever cheesy tag line here ) does become a film, that it doesn't suck like the last two.

I've been surprised before so bring it on Hollywood, the balls yours.. Don't drop it please!
